Matsuev in Dallas

Denis Matsuev, piano

“Mr. Matsuev, wielding his athletic virtuosity and steely power, gave a chiseled, hard-driving yet transparent performance.” – The New York Times

Since his triumph at the 11th International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1998, Denis Matsuev has become a virtuoso in the grandest of Russian pianistic tradition and has quickly established himself as one of the prominent pianists of his generation.

In addition to performing in recital in the international music capitals, he has performed with the world’s great orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony, London Symphony, Royal Concertgebouw, and all of the legendary Russian orchestras, and with master conductors such as Kurt Masur, Charles Dutoit, and Lorin Maazel.

In 2010, the New York Philharmonic invited him as a leading soloist, under Valery Gergiev, in the orchestra’s 15,000th concert, and he was recently a featured performer during the 2014 Winter Olympic Games Closing Ceremony.
